Professionals are traditionally implied in large numbers in education
TeachingMany engineers, working in all sectors of industry, traditionally come to teach in the ParisTech institutes. In general, the permanent professors of ParisTech teach the more scientific and fundamental courses themselves, and call upon professional engineers for most technological courses. This is a result of the strong ties our institues maintain with industry, and a characteristic feature of engineering education as ParisTech understands it.InternshipsThe balance between academic education and field training in companies is an important feature for future engineers. Students spend a considerable proportion of their curriculum in internships and on their graduation project, which is usually done in industry or in tight connection with a company.Contacts with studentsBeyond teaching proper, professionals from businesses or research organisations also take a considerable part in education by intervening in seminars, receiving students on field visits, tutoring project assignments, etc. This gives the students other opportunities to confront their academic education with industrial realities.Financial aspectsA number of businesses involve themselves financially in education at ParisTech , either by funding professorships or M Sc programmes, or by sponsoring students at M Sc or PhD level. |
