Network of five foremost European institutions for engineering education
The IDEA League is a network of excellence formed by four of Europe's finest technical universities, joined by ParisTech in 2006:
This network, created in 1999, aims at developing:
The IDEA League universities comprise 60,000 students in total and deliver some 9,000 degrees every year.
Its most significant projects are:
In 2006, the four founding universities, wishing to extend their group, chose ParisTech as French partner.
They had been partners of ParisTech and its member institutes since many years already, notably in the ATHENS and UNITECH programmes.
Beside existing projects in the field of exchanges, mobility and quality management, the IDEA League aims at developing research cooperation in the areas considered as priorities on the European level. Implementation of this cooperation could take various forms:

This network, created in 1999, aims at developing:
- Joint activities in research and education,
- The exchange of students, professors, ideas and expertise
The IDEA League universities comprise 60,000 students in total and deliver some 9,000 degrees every year.
Its most significant projects are:
- To compare educational programmes, in terms of contents and quality, in order to establish common standards,
- To foster student mobility, both vertically (transition between Bachelor and Master programmes) and horizontally (exchanges during a MSc programme),
- To create joint MSc programmes between member universities,
- To promote coherent quality management methods: by comparing and inter-breeding quality assurance systems developed by the various members, it is hoped to contribute to establish an international practice in educational quality measurement and management, and in accreditation.

The IDEA League's future plans
Beside existing projects in the field of exchanges, mobility and quality management, the IDEA League aims at developing research cooperation in the areas considered as priorities on the European level. Implementation of this cooperation could take various forms:
- common replies to European calls for proposals on research and technology
- joint research seminars and discussion panels on themes with large impacts on society
- forming the core of a European Institute of Technology
